Our History

Reilly's has always been associated with superior quality service. The rich history in the locksmithing business and subsequently the advanced security business of access control and CCTV systems that drives us to provide our valued clientele and customers with the same reliable service they have come to depend on.

The sons of Irish immigrant parents, brothers Leonard McKenzie and Allen Gordon Reilly joined forces in Toronto during the 1930’s to form Reilly Lock. They were fast outgrowing their very modest beginnings at the rear of Pemble’s Shoe Store in downtown Toronto. Reilly Lock then moved into its own located at 607 Yonge St.

It is there in addition to cutting keys for 25 cents, the brothers expanded customer offerings in such auxiliary products and services such as door closers, vehicle trunk, ignition locks, lawnmowers, and Mossberg rifles.

Yes, you read that correctly. At one time Reilly Lock sold lawnmowers.

For many years Reilly Lock was the only locksmith in Toronto and at one time was home to a staff that comprised of 42 locksmiths.

After 40 years of exceptional and continued growth, Len Reilly decided to sell the business to ADT as he decided and eventually moved onto becoming a member of parliament, serving the community and Toronto in his East York riding.
In 1996, our current President, Carmine Panaro, purchased the company from ADT. Carmine worked at Reilly's as a locksmith providing service to many of the clients that we still have to this day.

In span of 24 months with Reilly Lock, Carmine made an offer to buy the company from ADT.

In 1998 two new companies were added to the Reilly's range of businesses. Executec Protection Services, specializing in investigations, undercover surveillance, and specialized security services such as Executive Protection Services, security audit, technical and threat assessments.

The second company was established focusing on physical security solutions such as security guards, mobile security patrols, concierge services, loss prevention, asset, property protection and services normally performed by licensed security guards in Ontario.

In 2004, Carmine purchased Paul’s Lock and with Andre Paquette on the team for 13 years at Reilly's Lock and wanting an opportunity in ownership, Carmine included Andre in the Paul’s Lock purchase.

Ironically, Paul’s Lock was founded by Paul Jamieson in 1965 when he settled in Barrie, Ontario after leaving his job with Reilly Lock in Toronto. Almost 40 years later he would sell Paul’s Lock to the company he at one time worked for.

Under the leadership of Reilly's Lock and Security Systems President, Carmine Panaro, the company has expanded its locks and keys, CCTV and access control vendor partners substantially to suit a wide array of clientele within a wide budget project investment spectrum.
